"It is Easier To Lead a Thousand Than One Push"
Leadership Management
Each of us commands some authority. There are or will be those we guide, supervise, rear, mentor or lead. Some of us will be effective and others will feel like they're running a cemetery: they've got a lot of people under them and nobody's listening! Bill frequently calls upon his many years of experience in the corporate world and as a family counselor to discuss some cognitive skills and traits that characterize a good leader and help those above who feel less than adequate to be good leaders. His experiences on the Appalachian Trail also enable Bill to become aware of what it takes to be a good leader. Being self-motivated himself he goes through the concepts that he believes are a must in order to understand the principles of becoming a highly effective person and therefore a great leader. He uses the word LEAD as an acronym and he makes five points to explain his concepts. His discussion is packed with anecdotal stories that keep the audience sitting on the edge of their seats! When they leave the seminar or presentation they go home all fired up to become an effective leader in whatever endeavor they pursue in life! |
"But Now I See!" Overcoming the Odds
Bill tells his life story in regard to his life controlling problems and how he was able to change his behavior and recover. He uses the Appalachian Trail experience to set the stage; to create and maintain interest! He also uses lots of humor to effect a wide variety of emotional responses from his audiences regardless of their ages, occupations, or interests. He considers it his job to keep every single person in the audience sitting on the edge of their chair from the moment he begins his speech and keeps them there until his final word! Bill also customizes every presentation to better fit the audience to whom he is addressing. They will learn that the only person in the world who can allow someone to kill their impossible dreams are themselves! When they return home from his presentation, they will have a new resolve to accomplish, even more than they ever dreamed they could! |
"Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" Stress Management
Today in a world that is characterized by the only constant is change we need to learn how our choices are related to our level of peace and joy! We respond to the effects of these constant changes in a negative way, even when the change is a great one in our lives! Since change equals loss and loss equals pain then it follows that change therefore equals pain! Bill will give his audience many coping strategies to help them resolve that pain. He has a unique way to lead his audience through all the concepts and principals so that when they return to the rigors of their environment they will have some new coping skills to effect better choices in their lives. |
"I'm Not Sick Any More!" Living a Balanced Life
Every single day in the news we hear more about how people are dying of illnesses that were not even heard of twenty-five years ago. Bill has discovered that, the precepts of modern western medicine, emphasizes symptom relief through the world of chemistry. In other words, there is a pill for every symptom that a person could possibly have. If the emphasis was placed on behaviors that each person could effect in their lives to create and maintain excellent health there would be no need for all the drugs! After all they all are strong chemicals that have adverse side effects. Several years ago Bill was facing kidney failure from the treatment of his osteo-arthritis. He decided to find an alternative method of treatment. He discovered that if one changes their eating habits that are composed primarily of raw fruits and vegetables they will immediately begin to feel better. By adding rigorous daily exercise and lots of good fresh air and sunshine to the menu one will soon learn that they don't ever have to be sick any more! Bill uses his Appalachian Trail experience to get his audience's attention and interest and keeps them on the edge of their chairs until he has uttered his last word. It is fascinating and exciting to learn that we all are just one little decision away from wellness regardless of our current physical condition! |
"Just Like Me!" Diversity
Twenty years ago most of us lived in a world that had very little change in it. Today due to the tremendous rate that new information is disseminated throughout the world we all experience many changes each day. This happens at a rate that we cannot develop skills fast enough to cope. In addition, we are faced with all the politically correct terms to address anyone who is different in any way than we are. Examples include fat persons are now called, horizontally challenged persons and short people are correctly called vertically challenged. Even dogs have now entered the arena of political correctness. During his presentation Bill explores the world of diversity and helps his audience learn new skills to help them better cope with their very diverse environments in which they live. He customizes each presentation to fit the needs of the audience with whom he is addressing. Bill is willing to focus on any area of diversity that a company or association wishes. |
"Look At What Happened to Me!" Coping In The New Millennium
Bill has experienced several adverse life circumstances, which he has learned to live with, the least of which is not blindness. He has been told three times that he was going to die. He is a survivor of two terminal illnesses and can offer many coping skills to help his audiences to accept and overcome anything that can possibly happen to them. This message of hope encourages thousands of people each year to keep on living regardless of the things that happen to them. When Bill recovered from alcoholism and several more life controlling problems he learned a way to live that enables him to keep his slate clean with God and his fellow man every day. He can tell them that even though things seem unbearable at the moment there will come a time that one will know that those events turn out to be blessings! When the participants leave the auditorium and return home they will always remember that things happen best for those that make the best out of the way things happen! They will never again enter into a pity party with themselves! |
"Do You See What I See?" Disabilities
Today almost everyone is afraid to approach anyone who is "differently abled" from themselves. Since Bill has been dealing with his blindness for more than thirty years he has gained many insights into this fear of people who have physical handicaps, or more politically correct, "differently abled." He leads his audiences into his world where there is little difference between them and him! He gives them the coping skills to better relate to others who are "differently abled" and they go home feeling much more confident to interact with those people from that moment on!
